129: i think happy thoughts … #22

The mister refers to these days as the calm before the storm, and thereafter I’d like to think of it as the gentle pitter-patter of raindrops luring you with a promise of a rainbow embrace. In just a couple of days, Life as I had known it will be more fastidiously intricate than I had ever learned, more charming with its own defining moments, more lulling than the kiss of sunshine upon a cherub’s cheek. And when people ask me if I’m nervous, I wish they could hear Life’s promise ricocheting in the depths of my repository.

To all my dear readers and friends, thank you for all your thoughts and wishes. I’m thrilled to be able to share my joy with the few of you who will be dropping by, and for everyone else, look out for picture spam upon my return!

p/s: Made a floral arrangement for my empty dresser. One tall glass vase, one lil pink carnation, one big pink pompom, one big white pompom, blue and white pebbles, floral wires;– a bridal DIY under $10. Haha!

127: i think happy thoughts … #21

Getting snail mail always gets me happy, but this time round, I couldn’t have been more thrilled since I won an online giveaway hosted by the uber-talented Nabbycat! The invisible letter particularly got me giggling like a five-year-old, and the Enid Blyton pencil is a dream come true for the Amelia Jane fan in me. Be sure to drop by her blog, and vote for her in the Listerine Bloggers Dare!

I love Sesame Street, and every lil monster on it with the exception of Big Bird (much like me hating Mickey, Alvin and Ronald McDonald;– I just hate assumed leaders). And this was the bag I brought out on Children’s Day, which inevitably got abit of gawking and pointing from little kids and one nyonya. I remember a high school friend saying that I can get away with cute quirky things, thanks to my not-so-friendly-face. Hah!

A final glimpse of my wedding invite. It felt somewhat surreal tearing open the brown paper package, seeing a let’s-sit-down-at-Macs-and-draw-up-the-design session with the mister coming to fruition. I had initially wanted an off-the-mill invitation card, but am glad that we decided to design mine from scratch. Or rather, I tell the mister what I had in mind, he does the magic, I tinker, we conclude.

The past two weeks had been spent writing gajillions of wedding invite for the parents to send over to the elders and relatives. Out of that whole thick wad of cards, I’m only taking somewhere around twenty pieces to be sent to a handful of my closest friends and some of my blogger buddies whom I already regard as friends. I still have some loose strings to tie, but once I’ve worked out my schedule, I’ll be dropping a note to meet some of ye ladies out there!

Don’t forget, kids, vote for Nabbycat now! Hey, it’s not every day a cat encourages oral hygiene, okay? So vote!

Any guesses for what’s in this perfectly worn-out leather bag?

121: i think happy thoughts … #19

I’m actually nursing a horrid eye thingy;– I’m refraining from saying infection because that sounds serious, and I’m very much a it’s-all-in-the-mind kind of person;– and while the prospect of having the lump on my right eyelid not disappear in time for a certain special occasion sounds much too daunting, let’s take some time off to think happy thoughts, shall we?

One of the things that have always made me happy was receiving snail mail. When I was in my early teens, I kept in touch with two of my primary school best friends with the help of mister postman. I remember the thrill of making our own envelopes, writing on pretty letter sets and handmade paper, and the excitement of receiving all the doodles [and gossips]. Each time a mail comes in undecipherable addressee names and messy envelopes (one of my best friends had a thing for scribbling all over the envelope), the father would know that it was meant for me.

Now that those days are long gone, I’m glad I still receive little packages in the mailbox now and then from baking buddies, and most recently, from the lovely Fiza and Lenny! Thanks, ladies :)
