127: i think happy thoughts … #21

Getting snail mail always gets me happy, but this time round, I couldn’t have been more thrilled since I won an online giveaway hosted by the uber-talented Nabbycat! The invisible letter particularly got me giggling like a five-year-old, and the Enid Blyton pencil is a dream come true for the Amelia Jane fan in me. Be sure to drop by her blog, and vote for her in the Listerine Bloggers Dare!

I love Sesame Street, and every lil monster on it with the exception of Big Bird (much like me hating Mickey, Alvin and Ronald McDonald;– I just hate assumed leaders). And this was the bag I brought out on Children’s Day, which inevitably got abit of gawking and pointing from little kids and one nyonya. I remember a high school friend saying that I can get away with cute quirky things, thanks to my not-so-friendly-face. Hah!

A final glimpse of my wedding invite. It felt somewhat surreal tearing open the brown paper package, seeing a let’s-sit-down-at-Macs-and-draw-up-the-design session with the mister coming to fruition. I had initially wanted an off-the-mill invitation card, but am glad that we decided to design mine from scratch. Or rather, I tell the mister what I had in mind, he does the magic, I tinker, we conclude.

The past two weeks had been spent writing gajillions of wedding invite for the parents to send over to the elders and relatives. Out of that whole thick wad of cards, I’m only taking somewhere around twenty pieces to be sent to a handful of my closest friends and some of my blogger buddies whom I already regard as friends. I still have some loose strings to tie, but once I’ve worked out my schedule, I’ll be dropping a note to meet some of ye ladies out there!

Don’t forget, kids, vote for Nabbycat now! Hey, it’s not every day a cat encourages oral hygiene, okay? So vote!

118: on the day i was born…

some articles of the sports section carried an informal tone, and we’re not even talking about New[trash]Paper here;– my goodness indeed!;

we won gold medals in the SEA Games for some shooting events, and well, if anyone’s interested, there’s the Toto results for that year (hah!);

and they still had Malaysian adverts in the local papers, of which I’m really interested in the ‘Vacutex’. I mean c’mon, a vacuum pump for blackheads? Ingenious! But then again, since it’s not around almost 3 decades later, I guess no one really wants to vacuum their noses, huh.

What was in the local papers on the day you were born?
